Peake Ranch Syrah
John Sebastiano Vineyard
Beautiful violet color with exuberant aromatics and perfume. Sophisticated, intense yet harmonious, and very youthful. Dark cherry dominant and super clean, with a gentle trace of the finest Cuban tobacco on the nose. Pronounced but elegant, spicy tannins on the finish with underlying savory notes and a subtle hint of smoked bacon. Juicy and tasty, expressing the highest of potential that this variety has in the cool Sta. Rita Hills. Delicious to drink now in its youth, but will improve over the next 10-12 years. Enjoy with duck breast, grilled lamb chops or steak, or your favorite Italian pasta.

The second wine is the 2015 Peake Ranch John Sebastiano Vineyard Syrah; our premier Syrah offering! In the cool Sta. Rita Hills, Syrah can struggle to ripen, but the low yields on the steep slopes of the John Sebastiano Vineyard lead to better chance of achieving ripe flavors and producing concentrated, complex wines. This is our most limited offering yet, with only 3 barrels produced. This wine received a 92 Point Rating from Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate and a 95 Point Rating from Jeb Dunnuck. Here’s what he wrote, “The first Syrah from this estate and bottled end of April, the 2015 Syrah John Sebastiano Vineyard saw 40% whole cluster and was aged in 66% new French oak. This sensational beauty offers tons of black raspberry, white chocolate, white pepper and licorice as well as full-bodied richness, a seamless texture, sweet tannin and an ethereal texture. Unfortunately, there’s just 73 cases.”
